Excalibur Women’s Volleyball Take Flight for First OUA Trip to Lakehead Thunderwolves

THURSDAY JANUARY 26, 2017

THE EXCALIBUR WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL TEAM WILL TAKE TO THE AIR THIS WEEKEND AS THEY TRAVEL ACROSS THE PROVINCE TO MATCHUP AGAINST THE LAKEHEAD THUNDERWOLVES IN INTER-CONFERENCE PLAY.

Coming Up This Weekend:

Saturday, January 28th

Women’s Volleyball: Trent University @ Lakehead University, 7:00pm

Summary:

It’s not often that regular season competition requires flights for our volleyball teams, however the wide-spread OUA footprint will put the Excalibur Women’s Volleyball (2-8) team in the air for the 900+ km trek to matchup against the Lakehead Thunderwolves (2-11).

Seeking their third win of their inaugural OUA Season, the Excalibur will fly out on Friday to prepare for a Saturday night game. The host Thunderwolves are also sitting on two wins for the season, so we should see a competitive match play out.

The game will have added meaning for Excalibur Head Coach Craig Barclay, who was a one-time Assistant Coach of the Lakehead Volleyball team. “It’s always nice to get back to Thunder Bay and see some familiar faces” said coach Barclay. “They (Thunderwolves) are coming off a weekend split where they could have taken both games against a tough Waterloo team, and we have to make sure we play our game and not let them build too much confidence at their home court.”

The Excalibur will spend the weekend up North, flying back home on Sunday. They will hit stay at home three of the next four weekends in a busy February that kicks off with Queen’s and RMC visiting Trent next weekend.
