The Trent University Excalibur Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 29th are women’s soccer goalkeeper Paige Spurgeon, and men’s lacrosse defensive midfield Lyman Beatty!

Spurgeon, a second year Environmental Science and Geography major, led a campus-wide bra collection with the women’s soccer team to support Bras Around The Building. This is a Peterborough initiative to raise bras and funds for Breast Cancer Awareness month. In total, Spurgeon and team donated 67 bras!

Beatty, a fifth year Anthropology major, helped propel the Excalibur to the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association’s Baggataway Cup! As always, he was a wizard on defense, casting yard sales and stone hands on the Bishops offense, while also scoring the game winning overtime goal! As one of the captains, he leads a hungry Excalibur squad into the quarterfinals this Friday, November 3rd, at Queens University where they square off against the Guelph Gryphons at 4:00pm!
