The club welcomes both competitive athletes for the OUA season and championships as well as recreational runners who run for fitness. It accommodates all levels of runners with the idea of physical activity being a life long pursuit.

Trent University provides an excellent training environment for cross country runners, as you have access to an endless variety of trails that stretch through acres on campus nature areas, offering a multitude of terrains on which to train. In addition, a recreational track and artificial grass playing field in Justin Chiu Stadium are also training venues.

As a sport that requires as much mental concentration as physical ability, Trent offers a cross-country running club that is designed to train the mind as well as the body. With the support of a nationally renowned coach and dedicated teammates, Trent athletes are encouraged to seek out and maintain a balance between athletics and academics.

In the sport of cross-country running, this balance has been accomplished by Trent athletes year after year with a high proportion of students receiving prestigious Academic All-Canadian status for maintaining an academic average of over 80 percent.

COACHING STAFF

RICHARD BOREK is a level 3 coach with 36 years of experience at the school, club and university levels. He has been a provincial coach 9 times and a Canadian Team coach on 3 occasions including the Pan Am Junior Games. He has been at Trent for 14 years now and has mentored a number of coaches over the years. He is also an instructor for NCCP coaching.


DAVE KERVIN has been with the program for 6 years both as a coach and a therapist. He has been a massage therapist for Swim Canada national teams on at least 2 occasions.


ROSS PROUDFOOT has joined the coaching staff after a number of years as an elite athlete, representing Canada a number of times internationally. He has won national championships and competed at world championships, bringing much experience to the staff.
