The Trent University Excalibur volleyball teams challenged the Georgian College Grizzlies in home game action on Saturday, December 5, 2009, with both Excalibur men’s and women’s teams taking the victory.
The women’s match was up first in the afternoon, with Georgian College dominating the first game, winning 25-13 over Trent. Excalibur picked up their game in the second match by upping their offensive attack, taking this game 25-21. The following games were split in wins, with the Grizzlies taking the third game 25-21 and Trent taking the fourth game 25-20, leading to a tie-breaking fifth game. Trent was a force to be reckoned with and showed their worth by winning the fifth game 15-9, with their speed and strength at its highest, taking the match 3 games to 2 games.
Trent University women’s volleyball team next faces off against George Brown College at George Brown’s St. James Campus on January 13 at 7:00 pm.

In the men’s match, Trent University was in top form from the first second of play in their strong performance against Georgian College. The matchup proved to be spectacular, with Excalibur sweeping Georgian College 3 games to 0 (25-15, 26-24, 25-16). Teamwork was Trent’s strongest asset, as they rallied together to fend off the Grizzlies offensive action. Trent’s Josh Neadow added an amazing 12 digs in the match.
Trent University men’s volleyball team next dukes it out with Georgian College at Georgian’s Barrie Campus on January 17 at 3:00 pm.
