Trent Athletics will once
again be hosting National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) coaching
courses this fall. Competition: Introduction
Part A course will run in October and Competition:
Introduction Part B will be held in November. All courses will be held at
the Trent Community Sport & Recreation Centre (TCSRC).
The courses, which are
suitable for coaches in sports at all competitive levels and all ages, are open
to all coaches and interested members of the community.
Competition
Intro A
Introduction to Competition A helps coaches
understand why athletes participate in sport and prepares them to teach skills
and to design a safe, enjoyable and challenging practice. Course modules
include Making Ethical Decisions, Planning a Practice and Nutrition.

Competition
Intro B
Introduction to Competition B
introduces coaches to the needs of developing athletes preparing for
competition. Goal setting, physical training and skill analysis techniques are
emphasized as coaches plan a season of competition. The focus of the
Introduction to Competition B course is the design of a seasonal plan.

5:00 pm

Both courses will be taught by instructor Mary Stever.

Register online on the Trent Athletics website. Click the "Register Now" button on the Athletics main page, choose
the "Programs" tab at the top and select “Coaching” from the list on
the left hand side.
Register In person at
the TCSRC any time Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday and
Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
