The Trent University Varsity Cross Country Running team was in Waterloo this weekend (Sat. Oct. 2) to compete in the 2010 University of Waterloo Open Cross Country race. Under some very chilly, wet, and slippery conditions, the team kept a very positive attitude and continued to show progress with their fitness levels. Keeping warmed up right to the starting horn was a key component in ensuring an injury free race and that the athletes would be able to perform to their full potential. "I’m very proud of how each member of the team performed under the miserable conditions and how well they supported each other. It demonstrates the foundation of a great team, worth recognizing and making it a pleasure to work with," stated coach Dave Kervin. In a field of 76, the top female for Trent was Carrie Vanhie, finishing 27, with fellow teammates Lisa Swift finishing 65th, and Monica Farlow in 69th with Kelsey Yeomans coming in just behind in 70th respectively. Jakub Misiek was the only male competing this weekend for Trent, finishing strong with a 44th place, out of a competitive field of 86. The Trent team will be off to Queen’s University next to compete on October 16th. Congratulations to all Trent runners on a great meet!
