The Trent Excalibur women’s soccer team battled it out with the Nipissing Lakers in the last home game of regular season play this afternoon at Trent University, with Nipissing defeating Trent 3-1.
The first half saw continuous back and forth play between Trent and Nipissing, but no goals managed to slip in. Nipissing upped the game in the second half, with Leesa Church adding 2 points to the scoreboard for the Lakers. Trent defended their end well against the oncoming pressure and exhibited great effort in their ability to hold off Nipissing, but Lakers Amy Laidlaw still managed to knock one in. Excalibur’s Danielle Curti netted one for Trent later in the half, bringing the final score to 3-1 for Nipissing.
Later that afternoon, the Trent Excalibur men’s soccer team challenged the Nipissing Lakers in their last home game of regular season play, with a suspenseful 0-0 tie.
The teams were evenly matched in their playing abilities, which translated into a very exciting match. Trent had amazing opportunities for scoring throughout the game, delivering fantastic offensive pressure with amazing ball control and strong passing.
Both teams held each other off in scoring, with the game ending in a 0-0 tie.
