Thursday was a tough pill to swallow for the excalibur volleyball teams, as they travelled to the outer-GTA to take on the Durham Lords. Seeded one above the men's team, a tough durham squad led the men to a 3-0 loss. This now brings the men's record to 8-3, and second in the division. The men were looking for a win as they returned home to Peterborough on Thursday night. They would get a chance at redemption as they faced the Georgian Grizzlies at home on Sunday afternoon, and their hard work paid off. In a nailbiter of a match, the men pulled off a 3-2 Win after a quickie comeback in the 3rd and 4th sets. This brings their season record to 9-3, putting them in a great position to soon clinch a playoff spot.
The Women's Volleyball Team had a similar week, losing to Durham on Thursday by a margin of 3-1. The girls did what they could, but were met with significant opposition vs. the 2nd-place Lords. Currently seeded 3rd, the women's team also hopes to clinch a playoff spot within the next few weeks. On Sunday, the women's team were ready for a win, and a win they got. They handily beat the Grizzlies, sweeping the match 3-0 - maintaining their 3rd-place conference spot.
Look for the Excalibur Volleyball program as they take on Canadore College at home next Saturday.
The Trent Excalibur Varsity Curling Teams travelled to St. Catharines for the Brock Invitational Bonspiel Saturday, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
