The Trent Athletics Women's Lacrosse program is thrilled to announce the signing of elite midfielder Maddy Baxter (Whitby, ON), a decorated Canadian athlete and former NCAA Division I standout.
Baxter brings both international and university experience to Trent. A key member of Team Canada, she helped secure a silver medal at the 2022 Women's World Lacrosse Championship in Towson, Maryland, where she recorded 15 points (9G, 6A), and later claimed gold at The World Games. Her journey with Team Canada began in 2019, where she competed at the U19 World Championships on a roster that included now-Excalibur head coach Jocelyne Lemay.
"Maddy will bring a wealth of knowledge on and off the field," said Lemay. "Having a player of her stature elevates our program and everyone around her. Both myself and my assistant coach Lexie Kinmond have had the pleasure this summer to get to know Maddy on a personal level and she is a great person. We are excited to welcome her to Trent this September."
Baxter recently wrapped up an impressive NCAA career at Syracuse University, where she played in 84 games over four seasons. In her senior year (2024), she posted career-best numbers, recording 36 points (30G, 6A), 14 draw controls, 14 ground balls, and 12 caused turnovers. She was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week and earned multiple academic honours, including spots on the All-ACC Academic Team and Athletic Director's Honour Roll.
After narrowly missing the podium last season, the Excalibur are heading into the upcoming season hungry for success. Their season begins on September 6 at Ontario Tech University. The team will play a home tournament on September 20-21 at Justin Chiu Stadium.
