Four Excalibur Rugby Players Named OUA Second Team All-Stars

Trent men's rugby celebrates standout individual performances after a competitive season

Trent University men's rugby is celebrating four players who have been recognized among the best in Ontario University Athletics (OUA), earning Second Team All-Star honours for the 2025 season.

Honoured for their exceptional efforts on the field were:

• Prop: Caleb Hickey (New Lowell, ON)

• Back Three: Cooper Allen (Thornbury, ON)

• Back Row: Austin Allen (Thornbury, ON)

• Hooker: Nick Bews (Whitby, ON)

A reliable force in the front row, Hickey continued to anchor the scrum and set the tone physically for the Excalibur. This marks his second consecutive year being named a Second Team All-Star.

Austin Allen also earned his second straight All-Star recognition. Despite spending part of the season sidelined with injury, he remained a key contributor both on and off the field, bringing energy and leadership to the team.

In the backline, Cooper Allen tied for 26th in OUA scoring with three tries and one conversion, while Nick Bews finished tied for 11th with five tries and one conversion - both consistent offensive threats throughout the season.

The Excalibur wrapped up the regular season with a 2-4 record and 12 points.
