Ring Ceremony Marks Culmination of Trent Excalibur Women's Lacrosse Championship Season

The Trent Excalibur women's lacrosse team were honoured with their 2025 Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Championship rings during a ceremony at the Trent Athletics Centre gymnasium on Friday, celebrating their 8–4 gold medal victory over the Queen's Gaels in October.

The rings commemorate the program's fourth OUA championship, earned through a first-place regular-season finish and an undefeated postseason run capped by a win over the defending champions.

The championship rings were crafted by Baron® Rings, an official partner of U SPORTS that designs championship rings for provincial and national champions across the country. A Canadian company, Baron® has also produced championship rings for professional organizations including the Toronto Raptors (NBA), Toronto Argonauts (CFL), Toronto Marlies (AHL), and Los Angeles Football Club (MLS), highlighting the prestige of the collaboration.

Each ring was custom-designed by Trent Athletics to honour both individual achievement and team success. One side of the ring features the student-athlete's last name and jersey number, while the other side shows the championship year, and an outline of the Patterson Cup. Inside, the engraving "Excalibur 8–4" permanently marks the final score of the gold medal match against Queen's, a detail that forever ties the ring to the moment the title was secured.

For the student-athletes, the ceremony offered a chance to reflect on a season defined by execution, belief, and shared commitment.

'"Winning the OUA Gold Medal was an awesome and rewarding way to cap off the season," said Maddy Baxter, student-athlete. "Getting the championship rings makes it feel official, but it also reflects the support system behind us — the coaches, staff, and everyone behind the scenes who helped make it possible. It's a reminder of the teamwork this group put in all year."

The ring presentation served not only as a celebration of this season's success but as a reminder of the legacy the program continues to build. With a proud championship tradition and the OUA spotlight returning to Peterborough when Trent hosts the 2026 OUA Championship at Justin Chiu Stadium, the Excalibur women's lacrosse program continues to set the standard in green and white.
